Cranky Octopus

As you may (or may not) have noticed, Cranky Octopus isn't exactly all go at the moment. Gene's on hiatus due to website upgrading and of course his imminent parental duties (Baby Kelly is due this month!).

I've been on hiatus for a long time now due to all kinds of things ranging from hand injury to enthusiasm issues to lethargy and stress. But I shant bore you with the details. I just wanted to reassure those of you who have been reading Maverick and "Friends" that it will be returning hopefully some time in the Autumn (that's the Fall for all of you people who need the English translation).

Anyway the plan is to finish drawing the current storyline and then start posting it up on the site week by week. While that is running I'll be working on drawing the next story which again will start posting when I've completed drawing that. I was having a hard time working to a weekly schedule so in the long run this works better for me and also for you, the readers since you won't be left hanging in the middle of a story arc for weeks (or in this case months) on end anymore which is very irritating, I know. Sorry about that.

In the meantime, is keeping the dream alive with consistantly great comic pages of Vigil which you should all be reading. If you aren't, get your bootay over to the Miffed Squid site and have a read. [link] His page count is at an astonishing 40 pages now (plus 2 covers) so there's plenty there for you to sink your teeth into.

Secret Wars and other stuff...

I also have some other commitments aside from finishing my current comic story. I'm taking part in *Kostmeyer's ongoing Secret Wars project which has been fun but also harrowing. I'm finding that I don't work so well in a large group since I'm kind of making it up as I go. Probably not a great way to work in this instance. If anyone has any ideas for including Janie in any of their pages, let me know. It might give me some ideas.

I'm also going to be drawing a filler page written by the ever fantastic I haven't forgotten, Dan. It's next on the list, I promise.
